As far as the patch goes, prolly need to decide how big a patch to get before deciding on what to put on it.  Drawing or printing up a design before knowing the size could be a waste of time and energy if it ends up looking like a colored blob when it gets shrunk down to the size of a patch.   Just a thought.   Also, I don't know how other guys feel about sewing on a big ole patch every year, so how about leaving the year off the patch. Have a seperate itybity patch with the year on it or Maybe do kinda like the military does and sew a thin red hash mark under the patch for each of first 5 years. when you get to sixth year, replace four of red hash marks with a wider gold hash mark (each gold hash would represent 5 yrs)  Just a wild thought.
