Driving Directions

From Fort Knox:   Take the Bullion Gate Post exit and head down 31-w
and continue through Radcliff. Drive south thru Elizabethtown (Etown),
pass the courthouse, cross two railroad tracks, then go about a 1/4 mile
and take a left on Springfield road immediately past a "Car America".
Stay on that road for approximately four miles and turn left on a blacktop
drive, next to a chain link fence with an airplane sign on it. 
Continue down the lane and thru the fence gate and bear right and
go up to the top of the hill.  And there you are! 

From Louisville:  Take I-65 south to Exit 94. Go west, pass the Visitors'
bureau, all the way to 31W. Turn left at the light and go thru the center
of town, pass the courthouse, cross two railroad tracks, then go about a 1/4 mile
and take a left on Springfield road immediately past a "Car America".
Stay on that road for approximately four miles and turn left on a blacktop
drive, next to a chain link fence with an airplane sign on it. 
Continue down the lane and thru the fence gate and bear right and
go up to the top of the hill.  And there you are! 

Alternate from Louisville: Drive all the way down 31W past Fort Knox
and continue through Radcliff. Drive south thru Elizabethtown (Etown),
pass the courthouse, cross two railroad tracks, then go about a 1/4 mile
and take a left on Springfield road immediately past a "Car America".
Stay on that road for approximately four miles and turn left on a blacktop
drive, next to a chain link fence with an airplane sign on it. 
Continue down the lane and thru the fence gate and bear right and
go up to the top of the hill.  And there you are! 


Remember , if the gate is closed, then probably none of us are there. 
The land fill folks have the gate open from 8:00 or 9:00 until about 2:30
every day, but they lock it and leave at around 2:30-3:00 pm.  If we're
not there and the gates open, beware the land fill folks locking you
in (members have the combo)!   We require AMA membership,
and our dues are $40 a year.  Guests are always welcome to
fly or watch , and current members receive the gate combination to fly
at any hour you like.  We must, however always lock our lock to the gate
so it can be opened by any of the three different locks that hold the
gate, as three different organizations have to access that road to the
landfill.
