Driving Directions

** NOTE: For the time being, we need to lock the access gate behind us whenever we enter and leave the site. If you are a visitor, please make coordination with someone in the club who will know you are arriving, and we will meet you at the gate and let you in.  Also, you can call 270 300-2146 or 270 312-1513 once you are at the gate and ask to be let in. These instructions supercede any instructions below. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

From Fort Knox:   Take the Bullion Gate Post exit and head down 31-w and continue through Radcliff. Drive south thru Elizabethtown (Etown), pass the courthouse, cross two railroad tracks, then go about a 1/4 mile and take a left on Springfield road immediately past a "Show's Battery and Automotive". Stay on that road for approximately four miles and turn left on a blacktop drive, next to a chain link fence with an airplane sign on it.  Continue down the lane and thru the fence gate and bear right and go up to the top of the hill.  And there you are!

From Louisville:  Take I-65 south to Exit 94. Go west, pass the Visitors' bureau, all the way to 31W. Turn left at the light and go thru the center of town, pass the courthouse, cross two railroad tracks, then go about a 1/4 mile and take a left on Springfield road immediately past a "Show's Battery and Automotive". Stay on that road for approximately four miles and turn left on a blacktop drive, next to a chain link fence with an airplane sign on it.  Continue down the lane and thru the fence gate and bear right and go up to the top of the hill.  And there you are!

Alternate from Louisville: Drive all the way down 31W past Fort Knox and continue through Radcliff.

Remember, if the gate is locked, call the number on the sign.  The land fill folks have the gate open from 8:00 or 9:00 until about 2:30 every day, but they lock it and leave at around 2:30-3:00 pm.  If we're not there and the gates open, beware the land fill folks locking you in (members have the combo)!   We require AMA membership, and our dues are $50 a year.  Guests are always welcome to fly or watch, and current members receive the gate combination to fly at any hour you like.  We must, however always lock our lock to the gate so it can be opened by any of the three different locks that hold the gate, as three different organizations have to access that road to the landfill.
